A+K Launch Mental Health Education Programme for 2019

It gives us great pleasure to announce that 2019 will see the launch of a new Health Outreach Programme in Zambia, In partnership with Arsenal in the Community and with funding from the Premier League International Development Fund (in partnership with streetfootballworld), we’ve developed a new Mental Health Education Programme to be delivered in Zambia, 2019. 80% of people facing mental health challenges are based in developing countries where fewer than 1 in 5 have access to any treatment or support. There is a significant mental health education gap in sub-Saharan Africa, with stigma and discrimination widespread across society. The programme will focus on bridging this gap, working with young adults to educate about what mental health is, to challenge stigma, how to identify mental health issues, how to improve emotional wellbeing and  where to seek support. Through the use of methodology that has proven to have a positive impact on knowledge, attitude and behaviour, and by partnering with local organisations and training local educators, we aim to make a lasting impact; empowering local leaders to educate young people long into the future. : 16
