Thanks to support from City of London, Alive and Kicking plan to open a further 50 community ball library hubs across London with a focus on City of London green spaces and housing estates. Once open, this will mean a network of over 550 ball libraries across the UK, giving thousands of young people free access to a ball just moments from their doorstep.

The Project

The concept is simple – communities can borrow a ball for free from their local ball library hub, play with it with friends, neighbours and community members on often underused playgrounds, pitches and parks, and then return it for others to use. The aim is to increase access to sport and and create a sustainable and fun platform for socialising.

Who Are Alive and Kicking?

Alive and Kicking exist to create happier, healthier, more empowered communities. We achieve this by producing a sports ball like no other – creating access to employment, play and vital health education for communities facing disadvantage. Each ball we produce is FIFA standard and proven to last eight times longer than a standard synthetic ball.

A range of ethically made high quality sports balls (balls are delivered deflated for easier storage. We provide inflation needles but you will need a pump – a standard bicycle pump works perfectly)
A library ball stand for the balls (stands hold three balls at a time)
A set of marketing materials including posters and leaflets
A simple monitoring form to record how many times the library balls are used and how many young people play with them.
