Rachel Yankey joined the Alive and Kicking team in June 2016…and we’re very excited about it!
Rachel has been a highly influential figure in the development of Women’s Football. She holds 129 caps for England, and became the most capped English player ever when she surpassed Peter Shilton’s record of 125 international appearances.
In a career stretching back to 1996, Rachel has played for a host of clubs including Arsenal, Fulham, Notts County and New Jersey Wildcats.
Yankey was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2006 New Year Honours and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2014 New Year Honours, both for services to football.
When she’s not out on the pitch competing, Rachel can be found teaching and training children in schools as well as on CBeebies Footypups
